The Smart Agriculture Mobile Application is a farmer-focused digital platform developed for CIC Group to support Sri Lankan farmers with timely agricultural guidance, crop lifecycle support, market information, weather updates, and expert advisory services. Built as an Android mobile application, the solution combines traditional farming knowledge with modern data-driven decision support, helping farmers make better operational and commercial decisions. The platform connects farmers with CIC agronomists, subject specialists, dealers, and regional offices, transforming the application into an interactive advisory ecosystem rather than a one-way information channel.
The application provides farmers with structured support across key crop stages, including seed selection, land preparation, fertilization, disease management, harvesting, and post-harvest planning.
Time-based crop calendars guide farmers on important farming activities, while alerts and reminders help ensure that sowing, fertilization, treatments, and harvesting actions are completed on time.
A curated data library provides access to educational content, training materials, videos, regulatory guidance, and best-practice documentation to improve farmer awareness and productivity.
The platform integrates localized weather forecasts and market price feeds, enabling farmers to make informed decisions based on current field and market conditions.
Farmers receive timely notifications on adverse weather, disease outbreaks, input availability, market changes, and other important updates.
Farmers can capture field conditions through images and receive guidance or recommendations related to crop health and disease management.
The application enables communication with CIC agronomists, subject specialists, dealers, and regional offices through chat, video conferencing, and contact directories.
Branding, awareness campaigns, targeted notifications, and advisory content help strengthen farmer adoption and long-term engagement with the platform.
Dashboards provide CIC with insights into user adoption, feature usage, geographic distribution, engagement levels, and system performance.
The solution was built using scalable, open-source technologies with secure authentication, controlled administrative access, backups, performance monitoring, and a modular architecture to support future expansion.
The project was delivered through phased development, stakeholder UI/UX validation, integration testing, deployment, user training, and post-launch maintenance support.
